This is aimed at Post 16 and Secondary teachers of Mathematics
To help improve success rates for those resitting GCSE, this short course will explore ways to make the student experience different. We will consider which topics to focus on - and which to ignore- and ways of teaching to maximise impact in the limited teaching time. We will explore different approaches to the challenges of teaching resit students. There will be opportunities to try something new and then report back and share with the rest of this work group.
Intended outcomes of the Work Group are:
Increased awareness of and effective use of appropriate pedagogies to help students make connections, deepen understanding and increase engagement
Teachers feel more competent in teaching the new GCSE as a resit in Post-16 over 8 months
Sharing of practice and resources which are effective with this group of students.
